Start-up support

Start-ups – Not all beginnings are difficult

Lots of new technological developments started small, for instance as an idea by a talented amateur inventor, a product designed by a small business or a university project. However, turning an innovative idea into a market-compatible product takes more than just technological expertise and passion. Often, all that is missing is sustainable financing, without which an idea will remain just an idea.

This is where programs, which are supported and advised by Bayern Innovativ in particular, come into play. These are geared towards both technical start-ups in Bavaria and existing businesses who are keen to launch an innovative product or process onto the market.

Projekttraeger Bayern at Bayern Innovativ also supervises various technical funding programmes offered by the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology. With the Founder guide Bavaria (Gründerlotsen Bayern) at Bayern Innovativ, a free hotline was set up on behalf of the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy. Start-ups from all sectors and in every start-up phase are provided with information on consulting and financing options.

“Invest in Bavaria”, a partner of the Bavarian Research and Innovation Agency, can also provide advice on this kind of  projects.

Start-up support from the EU

The Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR) advises and supports start-ups with their sights set on the European market. The company’s product or service must have a clear European dimension to be eligible for support. BayFOR’s advises on Eurostars 2, a European funding programme which has been developed especially for start-ups and SMEs. One of Eurostars 2’s tasks is to award funding to companies and research organisations in the development stage or early stages of their life. Project participants receive funding from national budgets, which are then topped up by a contribution from the European Commission. Eurostars concentrates on improving cooperation between innovative, European technology companies in the development of products, processes or services. Universities and scientific institutions are also involved in Eurostars as cooperation partners.
